Mrs. Przekwas

 Hi! My name is Melinda Przekwas (You are welcome to call me Mrs. P) and I have the GREAT pleasure of being your child’s first grade teacher this year!! I would like to tell you a little bit about myself so that you can get to know me before we begin this wonderful school year! This is my 23rd year teaching, and my ninth year at Sarasota Suncoast Academy! Most of my teaching career has been teaching first grade, but I have also taught 2nd grade, 3rd grade, 4th grade, and Reading Recovery.   I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a Reading Endorsement. 

When I am not teaching, one of the things I love to do most is to spend time with my family.  I am married to Robert Przekwas, who is a high school English teacher at Poly Tech.  We have two sons.  Brayden, who is eighteen years old, will be starting his first year at The University of Florida.  Miles, who is fourteen years old, will be a freshman this year at Riverview High School.  I also have 2 Austrailian Shepards, Blu & Sydney!

My family and I moved to Sarasota from Denver, Colorado June 2015.  I have enjoyed exploring the beautiful state of Florida and look forward to exploring more in the future.   I love the ocean, the heat, and the humidity!   

          First grade is my favorite grade to teach and I know what a valuable year it is.  Please know that your children hold a special place in my heart.  My mission for my class is to help my students become lifelong learners.  Each student is unique and I acknowledge that in my classroom.  I strive to produce lessons that will engage the students and will compel them to view school as a positive, safe, and fun learning environment.  As the year progresses, I hope to help each student to grow academically, socially and emotionally.   I look forward to getting to  know you all and your families! I know this is going to be an amazing year!!!
