Notebooks 

  In our classroom, we will use communication notebooks as a system of organizing graded work, notes home, etc.  We call them our “PINEAPPLE notebooks.”  Your child will learn how to use these communication notebooks beginning on the first day of school.

This system will include a 3-ring binder that I will put together for each child that will house EVERYTHING that you and your child need to keep up with what is going on at school.  No more wrinkled papers in the bottom of the backpacks.  No more lost notes, newsletters, or calendars.  Everything will be in one notebook!

Why are they important?

These notebooks will help the students establish good organizational skills-skills that can carry on throughout their time in school.  The notebooks also save time for teachers and parents when looking for specific papers.

What will be included in the notebook?

• A two-pocket folder.  One side will be labeled “HOME” and will hold any important information, paperwork, and student work for you to keep at home.  The other side will be labeled “SCHOOL”.  Please put all papers, money, homework, etc. that needs to be sent back to school on this side of the folder.  PLEASE CHECK THIS FOLDER DAILY!

• A copy of our school rules.

• An optional reading log.

• Various learning resources for your child to use when completing home extension activities or practicing academic skills.

• Lined paper for sending notes back and forth.

        Students will bring their PINEAPPLE notebooks home every day and they should be returned to school every day.  If you have any questions about the PINEAPPLE notebook, please do not hesitate to ask!
